Welcome

Welcome to the official blog of StrongYouthWeakVoices.

StrongYouthWeakVoices, or SYWV, is a growing community designed for, and by, the youth of the United States. We are a community focused on two objectives: to give an amplified voice to the youth, and to encourage youth to use the powerful voice they have by voting.

One of the primary components in the spreading of SYWV, is to visit colleges in our community, and perform interviews, informing youth about our community, and encouraging them to join our community in one way or another, bringing awareness to the power of the voice of the youth. We plan to record these interviews, and publish them on Youtube in a way similar to Fifty People One Question (http://fiftypeopleonequestion.com/). In this way, we hope to encourage other people to perform the same interviews in their own home town, spreading the community of SYWV nationally.

We are not here to give you opinions. We are here to amplify, exemplify and illuminate your own opinions. In the 2008 presidential election, only 49% of youth between the ages of 18 and 24 voted. To put that into perspective: if 20% more youth had voted, 8 states' could have potentially been swayed from Republican to Democrat, or vice versa.

We provide youth a place to share their ideas about government and politics at our forum, populated almost entirely by Americans aged 14-24.

This blog is just one of many facets of SYWV.
